Swindon v Walsall, 5th May 2007, Walsall win the League 2 title...

Walsall went in to the last game of the 2006/7 season knowing that a win would seal the league 2 title.

After 50 minutes, Hartlepool were winning, and Walsall were losing - as it stood, Walsall would finish 2nd.

On 54 minutes, Richard Walker scored a penalty for Bristol Rovers against Hartlepool, if Walsall could now sneek a goal, we would be champions.

The next 30 minutes were the slowest of my life, wave after wave of Walsall attack passed without success. Vicious rumours of a Bristol Rovers 2nd at Hartlpool were circling but frantic phone calls to mates confirmed this as a falsehood.

However, on 86 minutes Bristol Rovers Ricky Lambert popped up and scored a winner for Bristol Rovers, cue a dozen texts to my phone telling me, cue mental celebrations!

We were still losing though, until, on 92 minutes, top scorer, top assist maker, and player of the season Dean Keates hit a wonder goal. The term 'Wonder goal' is used all too often, but this goal is truly, truly a wonder goal. 25 yards out, in sizzling heat, after 92 minutes of the game, with a player closing him down, facing away from goal he hits a powerful volley right in to the top corner, totally unstoppable.

On the way home, we stopped at the Air Balloon pub on the A417, and we were joined by the squad!
